New Book – Self Massage for Athletes

For the last few weeks I have been going through a book that I bought recently but hadn’t had time to read:

Self Massage for Athletes by Rich Pooley. The  hands on guide to improve your athletic performance, relieve your aches and pains and help you feel better fast.

Now I have always been a great believer in massage both before and after running, I know that there is a train of thought which goes against this but as far as I am concerned if it eases my aches and pains then it works for me!

Rich explains how he got into self massage:

“I first learned what an amazing tool self massage could be for athletes whiel training for my first Ironman distance triathlon. My training was going badly. I’d wake up every morning sore and weak. I knew that professional athletes used massage and self massage to help them train. So I took up self massage to help me train more effectively. And it worked. Not only was my muscle soreness gone, but I recovered faster from my training. I also noticed improvement in my mood and my health. I felt great. With self massage, completing me first big triathlon was fun and easy”

Now I don’t know about “fun” and “easy” but I do know that I will be going into this book in depth over the coming months, so watch this space.
